Frontex invites to workshop the European Industry and Academia which lead (or are about to start/are in the incubation phase of ideas on) research and development projects aimed at developing new products, technologies, solutions for border security and using financial sources other than EU financing.

The project proposes to bring the European ongoing and new border security research projects to the attention of the relevant stakeholders, in order to put the real needs under the light of research, thus ensuring that the projects’ results will best serve the requirements of border security.
The project proposes also to contribute to the capacity building process bringing to the attention of the Border Guard Authorities new and innovative approaches (e.g. Pre-Commercial Procurement instrument) designed to acquire research and development services and related results, with the purpose of steering the development of new innovations towards their needs.

Civil liberties MEPs back funds for asylum, migration and internal security

Among others, the European Parliament Civil Liberties Committee has endorsed the EP-Council deal on the Internal Security Fund (ISF) which will support external border and visa management, with funding to the tune of €2.8 billion up to 2020.
